Met Gala Recap

First things first... we were devastated that the red carpet wasn't live-streamed this year. So instead, we sat on our laptops all of last night scouring Twitter and Instagram to know exactly who was wearing what, and most importantly for the Met Gala... who was wearing WHO! After hours and hours of refreshing #MetGala on Twitter, we've finally come up with our absolute favorites. These are the stars who we thought truly shined last night and are well worthy of our admiration.

Sarah Jessica Parker in Oscar de la Renta and Janelle Monae in Tadashi Shoji

Leighton Meester in Emilio Pucci and Kirsten Wiig with Alexander Wang in Balenciaga

Sarah Paulson in Prada and Frank Ocean in Givenchy

Kirsten Stewart in Chanel and Kim Kardashian with Kanye West both in Lanvin

With all fashion good, there is unfortunately always little bad. We chose to justify our greatest hits and misses from the night... one celeb whose statement was too major to go unnoticed and one whose stylist we'd love to chat with... Check it out!

 Bri's Picks
Karolína Kurková in Marchesa

This entire look is just everything. She truly looks so statuesque it is unbelievable. I mean really, this is how you come to the Met Gala. Miss Kurková is no stranger to this lavish event and is actually on my best dressed list just about every year. This Marchesa gown is a piece of art. There is no other way of putting it. The silhouette is breathtaking, the styling is impeccable, and every time I scrolled over a photo of her looking so stunning in this gown I just fell more and more in love. All I have left to say is bravo. Bravo.
Kate Upton in Dolce and Gabbana
I am all about a woman showing off her curves, especially when you are Kate Upton and perfect. However, this look was just a dreadful miss. I saw this and immediately thought, 'mistress on a pirate ship...' I am sorry, but really?! Yes, this gala is all about taking fashion risks and bending the rules, but this year's theme was High Society... and this look, unfortunately, just did not do it for me.

Samantha's Picks
Lupita Nyong'o in Prada
While Lupita Nyong'o's look caused quite the controversy on social media, I was absolutely dying over it! I mean, it's Prada, so I was bound to. This look was so Prada, yet so Lupita at the same time. She did an amazing job showcasing a very deserving designer. She took a chance, she had fun with it, and she looked absolutely amazing.

Katie Holmes in Marchesa
Sorry Katie, but this Marchesa dress was just too Belle for the Met Gala! Instead of playing into the high society theme of the ball, Holmes did just the opposite. While you'd think no one could do wrong in Marchesa, the fabric of this gown just doesn't scream elegance to me.

Everything... and MORE
Beyoncé and Jay Z in Givenchy... That's all.

Truly Yours,

P.S. "You feel very romantic when you're in a ball gown. Everyone should wear on once in a while." - Carolina Herrera

And we can't forget to mention the amazing new tribute to the one and only Anna Wintour, which started off the day... the Anna Wintour Costume Center.
